Job Responsibility
We’re looking for a passionate Middle School ELA teacher to join our team!
Key Responsibilities
- Instruction & Curriculum: Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned ELA instruction using Ohio’s Learning Standards for grades 6-8. Differentiate for diverse learners.
- Literacy Development: Foster reading comprehension, writing fluency, speaking, listening, and vocabulary growth.
- Assessment: Use formative and summative assessments to monitor growth. Provide timely, specific feedback that helps students improve.
- Classroom Culture: Create a safe, structured, inclusive classroom where student voice is valued and behavioral expectations are clear, consistent, and restorative.
- Collaboration: Partner with intervention specialists, counselors, and families to support the whole child.
- Professional Growth: Engage in PD's and seek out best practices in adolescent literacy. We’ll support you!
- Believe in and implement Sunrise Academy's Mission and Vision.
- Develop and implement high-quality lesson plans for students.
- Clearly and successfully differentiate instruction for students in this content area.
- Demonstrate exceptional classroom management skills.
- Utilize technology as an instructional tool, for analyzing academic achievement data, and for effective communication.
- Have successful experience as a teacher.

Educational Requirement
- Hold a bachelor's degree or higher in education and/or English.
- Preferably holds a teaching license or teaching certificate.

Experience Requirement
- Preferably have at least one year of experience teaching students in a classroom.
- Preferably have at least one year of experience teaching students in a classroom.

Additional Requirement
- Muslim and non-Muslim applicants are welcome.
- Hold a bachelor's or master's degree in education and/or English.
- Preferably have at least one year of experience working with students in a classroom
- Preferably hold a teaching license or certificate in the state of Ohio.
- Exhibit excellent English fluency in verbal and written communication, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
- Demonstrate exemplary professional work habits.
