Welcome to the Sunrise Academy Community! I want to introduce myself, I am half Palestinian and half Colombian, and my background provided me with a unique opportunity as a child where I lived in three different countries, Colombia, Palestine, and the United States, all while learning 3 different languages. My husband, three children, and I decided to return to the United States in 1990, and we settled in Columbus, Ohio. I have been part of this beautiful community ever since and a supporter of Sunrise Academy from the first day it was initiated. I had a passion for teaching ever since I was a little girl. After having 6 children, I enrolled in college; determined to accomplish my goal of earning a college degree and becoming a teacher. With guidance from Allah (SWT) and the love and support of my family, I was able to accomplish my dream, Alhamdolillah!
I am a graduate of The Ohio State University, with a Bachelor In Science and Human Ecology. I earned a Bachelor's Plus from Ashland University in Elementary Education and Teaching. I have completed English Language Learner Courses at Heidelberg University and obtained an Ohio Professional Early Childhood Teaching License (Pre-3rd).
I have 16 years of teaching experience, 13 of which have been at Sunrise Academy. Within my teaching career, I have mastered the skills of providing a classroom atmosphere that is rich in learning opportunities for young minds, data driven instructions to meet students' needs, and classroom management skills to help students grow and learn academically, spiritually, and socially. This year, I started a new chapter at Sunrise Academy as a lead for grades KG-2nd, where I will mentor and coach teachers in developing and enforcing the necessary classroom skills to help our students be successful leaders of tomorrow.
